Dr Katerina Douma-Michelaki Orthodontist

Dr Katerina Douma was born in Athens and finished her secondary education with continued excellence. She was then admitted into the University of Athens, School of Dentistry and graduated with honors receiving the degree of Doctor in Dental Surgery. Throughout her studies she received distinction Foundation Scholarships and Scholarships from the University of Athens.

She holds foreign language certificates in English, German and French. Early on during her dental studies she developed a keen interest in the field of Orthodontics, and soon after graduation she was accepted in the highly competitive post graduate program in Orthodontics of the University of Louisville, USA. She completed her studies with grants for academic excellence from the State Scholarship Foundation and the legacy P Tzinopoulou.

Upon her return to Greece she started practicing clinical orthodontics in her private practice and she was also appointed as a research associate at the University of Athens.

In 2004 she received her PhD in Orthodontics from the University of Athens with unanimous "Excellent".

Dr Douma has scientific publications and presentations in Greece, Europe, USA and Canada. She is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the World Federation of Orthodontists, the Greek Dental Association, and the Greek Association for Orthodontic Study and Research.

Dr Katerina Douma is married to Dr Mark Michelakis, MD, Dermatologist, and they share together their common love for continuous scientific updating and community offer.

In this context, they both offer volunteer work to those in need, either through their private practice, or through the Municipality of Maroussi Clinic.

As a mother of three children who loves dearly, she is faced daily with current challenges. For that matter, and in order to help other children too, she was in charge of writing and editing of two publications that were distributed to the schools in Maroussi, titled "Grant us with your Smile" and "Surfing safely the internet".

She has served as former vice president in Maroussi Municipality Cultural Centre, and is currently a board member in the section of Prevention and Solidarity of Marousi Municipality.
